The American Academy of Sanitarians hosts quarterly general membership meetings, and an Annual Business Meeting, using a virtual platform. Many other AAS events are held in conjunction with the National Environmental Health Association's Annual Education Conference including: the recognition of new Diplomates, Diplomate Laureates, and other special categories of membership; the presentation of the annual AAS / NEHA Scholarship awards, the Crumbine Award (co-sponsored by the Academy), and the Academy’s Davis Calvin Wagner Sanitarian Award.

_________________________________________________________October 22, 2024 -- New resource for Correctional Facilities and those that inspect them
Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its partners shared the release of the Model Food Safety Practices for Correctional Facilities. This guidance is based on FDA’s Food Code but is tailored for the unique needs of correctional settings. The guidance was created in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), and supported by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture- Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS). We are delighted to see acknowledgement for 2 of our Diplomate Laureates Dr. Robert Powitz and Vincent J. Radke for their contributions to this document.
